Worms found in 96% of tuna samples tested for sushi rolls

 Brazilian scientists discovered parasites in nearly all tuna from a recent catch, raising concerns that raw fish used for sushi is becoming a hotbed for parasites.

Parasites were detected in 96% of the fish examined; in total, scientists counted approximately 1,600 worms.

The highest number of parasites was found in the intestines, followed by the muscle tissue—that is, the part of the fish consumed as food—and the stomach. 

Meanwhile, the kidneys and heart were the only organs in which no parasites were detected.
